Description:
This European discount chain, beloved by fashion-conscious college students and young professionals, is the answer for those who want a closet full of the very latest styles, but who can’t afford designer clothes. You can feel guilt-free buying something here, knowing full well that you’ll only wear it for a season, and that it will be out of style next year. H&M arranges inventory by color, which is great for when you’re trying to pair outfits, or fill in the color gaps of your closet. The inventory turns over pretty quickly, so if you find something you like, it’s a mistake to leave it there “to think about” – it will just lead to immense frustration and a rapid running-around-town to other H&M’s trying to locate it. The other drag? Communal dressing rooms aren’t everyone’s favorite thing, but again, the price is hard to argue with! --Molly, Summer 2005
