Description:

The Norwegian Festival – organized by the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in New York and the New York Road Runners – is now in its 13th year, going stronger than ever with a great line-up of Norwegian sports, food, music, and much, much more. New in the festival this year is the participation of Norwegian company Statoil, which donates $1 for every runner to UNICEF's work with children with HIV, and the Right To Play project, a program which uses the power of sports and play to improve health, build life skills and foster peace for children and communities affected by war, poverty and disease.

Last year, more than 7000 runners competed in the three races – one half-marathon, the 1.7 m Norway Run, and a fun race for kids aged 2-10. As always, the festival will feature both 9-time NY Marathon winner Grete Waitz and other celebrity runners.

You can come for the fun races, for the great family atmosphere, or for the funky music. You can come for a fresh taste of crystal clear Norwegian glacial water, courtesy of Isbre. You can come for the great raffle prizes, which include round trip tickets to Norway. You can come for the divine taste of free Norwegian waffles, or to meet sports celebrities, or even to meet a viking! Or you can simply come for the possibility of making a difference in the life of a child.

Norwegian singer/songwriter Marion Raven will perform her catchy rock tunes, and is visiting New York after having an eventful summer touring with Meat Loaf and Pink.
