Description:

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents a provocative new workshop, Mediation Techniques for Producers: Dealing with the Off-Stage Dramas on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 2-6pm at The NEW Playroom Theater, 151 West 46th Street, 8th floor, NYC. The cost to participate is $75 ($60 for TRU members, and ACR-GNY members). For more information, and to register visit http://www.truonline.org/MediationLab13.htm. The director has notes on the script, and the writer is resisting the notes because (s)he is concerned about protecting the integrity of the piece. How does a producer resolve these differences and get on with the show? Two writers who are collaborating on a project are having trouble working together because they cannot agree on a common approach to the material. Should the producer step in, or walk away? These and other all-too-common scenarios of off-stage drama will be discussed in this unique lab for producers as well as artists, taught by attorney/mediator Eric S. Goldman, with a panel of commercial Broadway producers who will offer commentary and observations. The program will consider the collaborative nature of theater, common problems that arise in creative collaborations, and discuss how it is generally the producer’s role to act as a mediator in these situations.
