Sandwiches, Italian, Food Trucks
Diso's Italian Sandwich Society is a food truck with attitude. Where else could you find sandwiches named after mobsters that taste so good it's a crime.
Sandwiches with names like Jimmy Gooch, Big Pauly, and The Godfather. We went for a "Sammy the Bull," named after the guy who brought Gotti down. It's a crispy chicken cutlet pounded thin with provolone, hot peppers, arugula and balsamic dressing on crispy Italian bread. A whole sandwich, which is pretty huge, is priced $10.50; $8 for half. All sandwiches are also available on focaccia.
Other options include prosciutto, salami, capicola and mortadella, or a combination. Vegetarian sandwiches range from broccoli rabe with sautéed eggplant (Nicky Guns) to fresh mozzarella with cherry tomatoes and basil (Tommy the Wig). We spotted Diso's on 48th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues in Midtown. But check their Twitter feed for daily locations.
Diso's makes a killer sandwich, and that's a good thing. Capeesh?
