Il Forno Di Marco

Il Forno Di Marco

Cuisine: Italian, Lebanese

Cititour Review:

Il Forno Di Marco may have an Italian name, but it has a Lebanese cook.  And nowhere is it more prevalent than on the breakfast menu.   If you have tired of eggs, bagels and muffins, then you may want to give some zaatar a try, fresh from the oven.  These homemade pies that resemble mini pizzas are topped with a mixture of dried thyme and roasted sesame seeds making for a delightful Middle Eastern treat, or have one slathered with labne, a thick yogurt spread, with tomatoes, olives and fresh mint.  Both make for an excellent, and healthy, breakfast alternative.  The breakfast pies also come topped with feta cheese and mozzarella or ground beef and eggs.

Lunch features an assortment of pizzas and sandwiches.  Alongside veal cutlet and eggplant parmigiana you will also find lamb shish kebab sandwiches and shawarma.   Lunch prices range from $5 to $7.  For dinner, Il Forno Di Marco is serving up an assortment of pastas, seafood and grilled steaks.  The specialty, Marco’s Samke Harra, is a traditional fish dish from Tripoli covered in a sauce made from tahini, lemon, garlic and spices.  Entrees are priced from $16 to $26.

The staff was attentive, helpful and friendly during our visit.   And while we stopped in to sample the housemade zaatar, we will be back to try some dinner.
