La Esquina Midtown

La Esquina Midtown

Cuisine: Mexican, Family Friendly

Summary:

La Esquina, a popular spot for Mexican in NoLita, has a new location in Midtown.  Located on 55th Street just off Seventh Avenue, the taqueria is offering an assortment of tacos, quesadillas, tortas and cocktails.  We tried three: the Pescado a Las Brasa with grilled mahi, cabbage, chipotle mayo and red onion.  The Carnitas topped with roast pork, cilantro, onion and salsa verde, and the ribeye with crispy cheese and onions.  All three hit the mark.  Quesadillas are made here with hand-pressed tortillas, while the tortas, a sort of Mexican sandwich, is served on toasted Amy's Bread.  Side dishes include grilled corn with queso cotija, fresh guacamole and rice & beans. The restaurant is also serving traditionsl margaritas along with an assortment of tequilas, mezcal and Mexican beers.  It's a perfect spot for a quick bite, lunch or dinner.  Open 7 days.  See more
