What's better than fresh lobster piled high on a toasty roll with just the right amount seasonings? In this case, herb mayo.  But not too much as to overtake the sweet flavor of the lobster meat.  That is the delicate balance you will find at the Lobster Joint on the Lower East Side.  The crab shack is an import from Greenpoint, Brooklyn where it originates.  There's also a location on Rockaway Beach.

The Lobster joint serves two types of lobster rolls; New England style which comes with bits of celery, or the Connecticut Lobster Roll which is served warm in its full glory with just a bit of butter.  They arrive with a healthy portion of crisp fries or homemade chips.  The restaurant is also cooking up a crab rolls, oyster rolls and chowders along with oysters on the half shell (just a buck apiece during Happy Hour 4-7pm; draught beers $4).  Or, break the bank with the Lobster Dinner ($34) which includes a steamed 1-1/2 pound lobster, red potatoes, corn on the cob, coleslaw and a crunchy pickle.

The Lobster Joint is great for groups or if you're dining solo.  What better way to break the ice than with lobster?
