Cuisine: Puerto Rican, Comfort Food

Summary:

Que Chevere is a family-run business that's hoping to bring Puerto Rican food back to the vibrant community of the Lower East Side. The menu includes authentic Puerto Rican offerings including: pernil con arroz y gandules (roast pork with rice & pigeon peas), empanadas, tostones and maduros. While Que Chevere officially opens in the Market Line on November 20th, the business has already been written up in Time Out New York as one of the 21 Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings of Fall 2019 and was cited in the New York Times. Furthermore, QC was invited to participate in this year's NYCWFF and has already won the accolades of "Best Dish" at the Hester Street Fair Test Kitchen and the 'Pig Impact' award at this year's Pig Island as a result of their support for Autism Speaks. Both the Owner, Mike, and his daughter/ Culinary Advisor, Lillian, have children with autism and as a result Que Chevere has donated over $7k to the organization this year alone!
