Summary:
606 R&D is everything you would expect in your favorite gourmet market and a lot more. Because aside from selling cured meats, artisan breads and local cheeses, the shop is also a full service restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.

Start your day with an egg sandwich ($12) with ham, gruyere and caramelized onions on fresh brioche, or maybe some of Grandma Lucy's puffy pancakes ($10). You will also find organic hot porridge, cinnamon sugar donuts and fresh scones.

Heartier fare includes chicken egg drop soup ($10) with butternut squash, mustard and dandelion greens along with Faicco's broccoli rabe sausage ($14) served with a celery root mash. The menu also features a lamb burger with roasted sweet potatoes, a turkey mealoaf sandwich, rotisserie chicken and littleneck clams in a tomato-orange broth. They are also cooking up a weekly family style dinner.


The restaurant also offers cocktails and a substantial wine list featuring wines from Germany, France and Italy alongside several regional labels. You will also find New York brewed Kelso Pilsner and Keegan Ales' Mother's Milk Stout on tap.

There is so much to see and so much to taste. But you won't find this spot in Manhattan. You will find it on Brooklyn's Vanderbilt Avenue in a bustling section of Prospect Heights. - Thomas Rafael
