Cititour Review:

In a sea of newly-opened gastropubs, Boulton & Watt sets itself apart by offering snacks that tantalize the senses, while maintaining an excellent cocktail list to go alongside those delicious bites. Carefully crafted cocktails grace the perfectly-sized list, allowing them to focus on their offerings as opposed to trying to do too many things at once. However, if you have a special request, the bartenders are all too happy to guide you to a drink you'll like, or even make one specially for you.

The housemade pickles are especially lovely, ranging from the normal (beets, carrots, cucumbers, okra) to the slightly more off the beaten path (pineapple, brussels sprouts). The Brussels sprouts surprisingly retain a lot of texture, and take on such a lovely tang to them, it's easy to make the leap to wonder when Boulton & Watt will start using their homemade pickles for their cocktails.

Continuing down the menu, though, results in many other tasty treats. Short rib & bone marrow toast is especially rich, savory, lending its fat to coat your mouth and pair deliciously well with one of the many crisp cocktails on the menu, or perhaps bourbon to emphasize and reinforce the bold flavors. Cheddar and bacon cheese puffs are surprisingly airy, lovely bites, while the mushroom duxelles are absolutely fabulous, crisp bites of mushroom encased in a fried golden crust.

Want something more substantial for dinner? Not to worry: steak frites and fish&chips both make strong appearances on the menu, along with the extremely rich duck confit carbonara. The entire menu offers something for everyone - delicious snacks, balanced cocktails, and more.
