Cititour Review:

The Penny Cafe is a small and inviting cafe located on Washington Ave. in Brooklyn, not far from the Brooklyn Museum. For an affordable price, customers have a multitude of great options to choose from for both breakfast and lunch, and a genuinely friendly staff to help make your visit as comfortable as possible. Not to mention the free wi-fi and very relaxing atmosphere (complete with a mid-sized sofa and small coffee table).

On the day that I visited I had a hard time picking something from the menu - everything smelled and sounded so good! The man behind the counter suggested the BLT, but I had my eye on getting an omelet or trying the tuna salad or vegetarian lentil soup. Finally, I chose a veggie omelet, which turned out to be a great choice. At Penny Cafe they do their omelets just a little bit differently than what I am accustomed to. Instead of serving their omelets with a side of home fries or potato wedges, they give you the option of having your omelet on a bagel, croissant or roll. I went with the roll and enjoyed every bite of the piping hot egg sandwich, complete with red onions, green peppers and mushrooms.

During my second visit to the Penny Cafe I was just as impressed with the friendly staff and great food. This time I chose a veggie burger that was made with fresh veggies and humus. To drink I opted for mint tea that was delicious as well. Next time you're visiting the Brooklyn Museum make your way down to the Penny Cafe for a nice lunch and comfortable atmosphere.
