Cititour Review:
They are officially slapping the pig in Brooklyn. Chef Thomas Perone branching out with a new Pig Guy location in Bay Ridge. The restaurant on 84th Street and Third Avenue is already drawing big crowds looking to pig out on some ribs and pulled pork. While we spotted Perone cooking up a storm in the Kitchen, this new franchise is run by two of his buddies, Pasquale “Bino” Trunzo and George Venetsanakos. And the food we tasted is fantastic.
St Louis ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender with a tangy barbecue sauce. Others sauces, include a citrusy orange sauce and Thai BBQ. The ribs are $15 for a half rack; $20 with two sides included. A full rack is $28. My son and I also shared the "Pig Face" Tanker, two thick slices of white bread loaded up with pulled pork and brisket on a bed of Red Hook slaw. It is a difficult sandwich to maneuver, but worth every bite. The BBQ wings are also tasty. We tried the Thai chili, but you can also get them with a garlic hot sauce, or lime chimichurri (8pc for $9).
The Pig Guy is also selling its signature "Bacon on a Stick" with a sweet and spicy glaze; a chorizo dog stuffed with provolone, and the "Double Porker," a pulled pork sandwich topped with a chorizo dog. Sides include five cheese mac & cheese, potato salad, and fries that you can have topped with cheese and bacon.
Alright, by now you've probably figured out this isn't the place to go to if you're trying to lose weight. But it's the perfect spot if you're looking for good food. Tommy and his crew work hard at what they do and they do it well!
