Cititour Review:

It was New Year's day and we found ourselves hunting for a place to eat in Park Slope.  Most restaurants it seemed had taken the day off.  But one place was buzzing.  Dale Talde's Pork Slope caters to a younger crowd and can be a bit boisterous, but it's also the perfect spot for a pitcher of beer and some first-rate eats.

Nachos are piled high with homemade chili, jalapenos and cheddar.   They arrrive on a plastic cafeteria tray and taste just as lively as they look.   Buffalo wings are ramped up with spice, just don't expect them to be dripping with buffalo sauce.  These guys are crisp around the edges and served with a cool ranch dressing.  My favorite dish this visit was the catfish.  We ordered it fried, but it also comes blackened.  The catfish filet literally took up half the plate.  It had to be a good half inch thick.  It was moist and flaky on the inside with a crunchy golden brown crust.  It was probably the best piece of catfish I've ever eaten in the city.  It came with two sides; mac-and-cheese and brussel sprouts.  I don't usual like brussel sprouts but these are fantastic, all caramelized and mixed with big chunks of apple and some peanuts for crunch.  A plate of Chinese spare ribs were also nice and meaty.

Other dishes on the menu include southern fried chicken, pulled pork and something they call the "mother porker."   As you can tell, Pork Slope is fun and worthy of a visit.
