Cititour Review:

Chances are if you don’t know about the cool little spot that serves Mexican style comfort food until 4AM on Friday and Saturday nights, you will never get to experience the Snack Dragon. Unless of course you are like me and happen to be wandering around the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn and are stopped in your tracks by an easel that has a very clear message on it that reads: “Best Tacos in Nyc”.

The Snack Dragon is a small taco shack with great food and even better prices (the most expensive thing on the menu is an $8 dollar double decker steak corn tortilla with the works). During my visit I kept it somewhat simple with the Vegetarian Nacharitos, a yellow corn tortilla topped with cheese, black beans, homemade salsa, sour cream and cilantro, served with a slice of lime ($4). This dish is also available with steak for an additional three bucks. This was a good choice as the beans were very good and the homemade salsa was flavorful but not overpowering.

And staying true to the sign outside, the Snack Dragon has a enticing selection of tacos to choose from, including: Pollo Verde, the Grilled Sole, Chorizo, Quinoa Pilaf, Freshly-Slayed Dragon Tacos and last but not least, the Carne Asada (the taco that, according to Snack Dragon, “put them on the map”). All tacos are served on top of a blue corn tortilla with spiced black beans, Monterey jack cheese, homemade salsa, all-natural sour cream, fresh cilantro and a lime. Taco lovers also have the option of ordering two tortillas for “extra support” at no extra charge.

Because the space is so small the atmosphere at the Snack Dragon is intimate and inviting. On the day that I visited there was only one other customer there, but I’m sure after a night of partying in Brooklyn this is the place to be if you’re looking to satisfy a late night craving.
