Mercer Kitchen: this is in the heart of SoHo in the basement of the Mercer Hotel, but there's nothing basement about this place. It's been open well over a year... and is still HOT! Dark scene with sharing table on one end... black-clad, model-like clientele. This is Jean Georges downtown place... and the food is unbelievable. Try the shrimp cocktail with three different sauces... the crusted duck... or ANY of the specials... the creme brulee desert is divine, as well. You won't be disappointed. Reservations required.
