Roundabout Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Liberation, a new play by Tony Award® nominee Bess Wohl (Grand Horizons), directed by fellow Tony nominee Whitney White (Jaja’s African Hair Braiding). This limited engagement is being staged at the Laura Pels Theatre located at 111 West 46th Street.
Set in 1970 Ohio, Liberation follows Lizzie, who brings together a group of women for what begins as a conversation but soon transforms into a life-altering, bracingly funny journey to redefine their own lives and the world around them. Decades later, her daughter finds herself grappling with the same questions and embarks on a search through the past for answers. The play offers a provocative, irreverent exploration of what happens when women come together behind closed doors, tackling themes that remain strikingly relevant across generations.
The cast includes Betsy Aidem as Margie, Audrey Corsa as Dora, Kayla Davion as Joanne, Susannah Flood as Lizzie, Kristolyn Lloyd as Celeste, Irene Sofia Lucio as Isidora, Charlie Thurston as Bill, and Adina Verson as Susan.
