Ceremonies Out of the Air: Ralph Lemon
Exhibition Dates: November 14, 2024 – March 24, 2025
Location: MoMA PS1

MoMA PS1 will present Ceremonies Out of the Air: Ralph Lemon, a major exhibition featuring over sixty artworks created over the last decade, along with a program of six collaborative performances. Opening November 14, 2024, the exhibition spans dance, drawings, photographs, sculpture, paintings, and video throughout the Museum’s third-floor galleries, complemented by live works performed in a dedicated space.

The exhibition’s centerpiece is Rant redux (2020–24), a four-channel video and sound installation created with Kevin Beasley and based on the live performance Rant (2019–ongoing). The opening weekend will include an ensemble presentation of Tell it anyway (2024), and in spring 2025, Rant #6 will transform the cinematic suspension of Rant redux into a live performance.

Organized by Connie Butler, Thomas Lax, and Kari Rittenbach, the exhibition is supported by major funding from the Ford Foundation, the Doris Duke Foundation, and the Mellon Foundation, among others.
