Monday nights are movie night at Bryant Park which is also serving up some gourmet treats to go along with those classic films. There are some familiar street food names, like Wafels & Dinges, and some that are not so familiar.

Oconomi had them lining up for its grilled veggie pancakes. Some arrived with a slice of tomato on top, while others got a thick slab of bacon. DB Bistro Moderne is selling kale salad, cod croquettes and a lobster BLT. We were lured to Pacifico's Joint by the promise of a gourmet corn dog. The coating was light and airy, not saddled with loads of grease like its carnival cousin. The hot dogs, available in beef and chicken, were nice and plump. When I approached Chef Shanna Pacifico and asked about the closing of Pacifico's in Crown Heights, all she would say was, "shit happens." What we tasted was anything but. Aside from corn dogs, Pacifico's is offering a refreshing watermelon salad, fried chicken "chicharrone style" and pulled pork on corn bread with a homemade slaw.

Other food vendors include Squish Marshmallows, run by Katherine Sprung, who was busy making homemade s'mores for customers with a mini blow torch. Flavors include Birthday Party with colorful sprinkles on top, tiramisu and Rocky Road. I bought a s'mores marshmallow for my son. It made for a sweet treat for just a buck.

Also nearby is Bisska selling things like pork belly with pomegranate molasses, lamb kebabs and corn on the cob cooked over an open fire with Japanese mayo and paprika. Red Star Sandwiches is selling its signature Korean chicken sandwiches. There is guac and chips and other Mexican street food at Gordo's Cantina; iced tea in flavors like peach mint and passion hibiscus at Renegade Lemonade; and brownie ice cream sandwiches at Ice and Vice. The movie night flavor was popcorn with toasted raisin and chocolate chips. It's perfect for a summer night at the movies.
