Official Site
Apple picking season is here! Twin Star Orchards in upstate New York’s Hudson Valley is perfect for a fall getaway, family adventures, dates, and food and cider lovers. Twin Star Orchards is located less than two hours away from NYC and offers a picturesque trip for apple picking, free cider tastings, exploring the orchards, casual dining with wood-fired Neapolitan pizza and burgers overlooking a pond, and an opportunity to purchase hard ciders, New York wines, spirits, and cheeses.
Their philosophy – Ugly Apples Taste Better – puts aesthetics aside to focus on what’s truly important: the most flavor possible. Guests can grab armfuls of different sustainably farmed apples including McIntosh, Gala, Fuji, Macoun, Cortland, Red Delicious, Jonamac, Jonagold and Empire. Twin Star Orchards also makes award winning ciders from varieties such as Northern Spy, Rhode Island Greening, Gold Rush, Spitzenburg and Ellis Bitter under the Brooklyn Cider House label, which can be sampled and bought in the tasting room and retail space. Currently 4 ciders are available, including Still Bone Dry, Half Sour, Kinda Dry and Bone Dry. The Half Sour and Kinda Dry ciders have won medals in the New York Wine & Food Classic competition including Best Cider and Double Gold in its category. Cider tastings are free.
Apple picking prices are $10 for half peck, about 5 – 6 lbs; $15 (peck, about 10-12 lbs) and $25 (half bushel, about 20 lbs). Hours: Wednesday and Thursday 11am – 6pm, Friday – Sunday (and holiday Mondays) 11am – 7pm. Hot food is served Friday – Sunday and holiday Mondays.
