A Luxe Destination at Governors Island Reopens for the Season

Collective Governors Island, a luxury outdoor destination with freestanding accommodations, is now open for its sixth season. Set within a 173-acre sprawling green space surrounded by spectacular views of the Statue of Liberty, and New York City’s skyline, Collective Governors Island is an oasis for both overnighters and day trippers, accessible by an 8-minute ferry from Manhattan and a 5-minute ferry from Brooklyn.

Collective Governors Island is introducing 4 new unique accommodations, including the Summit Tent King, Outlook Villa King, Outlet Shelter King, and Outlook Liberty Suite. Experiences include self-guided tours on a two-wheel cruiser, trails to hike and picnic, public art installations, historical buildings and monuments to explore.

Guest will also find an immersive European Spa along with spirit, wine and beer tastings, campfires, morning hikes and live musical performances. There are also private chef’s tasting dinners with a focus on seasonal cuisine highlighting local farms and purveyors, all inspired by the island locale. On the Sunset Terrace, guests can pair light bites with specialty cocktails and carefully sourced beers, wines and more. “Collective Rituals,” which are guided by the singular goal of connectivity, include an artisanal s’mores series at night and campfire coffee in the morning.

Reservations are open now for Journey+ Tents, Summit Tents and Outlook Shelters, with four new accommodations to be revealed early this summer. Journey+ Tents are strategically positioned for sunset watching and designed for families with king bed and double bed configurations as well as two-bed add-on tents. Summit Tents feature private en suite bathrooms and supreme island views. Outlook Shelters are temperature-controlled dwellings framed by two private terraces and view of the Statue of Liberty.
