Two-time Tony Award nominee Amy Ryan will assume the role of “Sister Aloysius” in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s new Broadway-production of John Patrick Shanley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Doubt: A Parable” on February 13. The show, which is playing at the Roundabout’s newly named Todd Haimes Theatre (227 West 42nd Street), will now open on March 7.
Ryan will take over from previously announced star Tyne Daly, who was unexpectedly hospitalized on Friday and unfortunately needs to withdraw from the production while she receives medical care. She is thankfully expected to make a full recovery.
The show also stars Liev Schreiber as “Father Flynn,” Quincy Tyler Bernstine as “Mrs. Muller,” and Zoe Kazan as “Sister James” and is directed by Scott Ellis. For performances through Sunday, February 11, the role of “Sister Aloysius” will be played by the role’s understudy Isabel Keating.
Ryan received Tony nominations for “Uncle Vanya” and “A Streetcar Named Desire.” She received an Oscar nomination for “Gone Baby Gone” and a SAG nomination for “Birdman.”
Tickets are available by calling 212-719-1300, online at roundabouttheatre.org, or in person at a Roundabout box office.
