Michelin-starred chef Hooni Kim, owner of Little Banchan Shop at Market 57, invites food lovers to dive into the art of kimchi at a hands-on class on November 24 at PLATFORM, Pier 57’s showcase kitchen led by the James Beard Foundation. Participants will learn traditional techniques and use authentic ingredients, including Hooni’s gochugaru from Haenem, Korea grown peppers, napa cabbage and Korean radish. The class includes a taste of Hana Makgeolli’s alcoholic beverage"takju." Tickets are $65, or $100 with Hooni’s cookbook My Korea.
On Thursday, November 14th, from 6 to 7:30 PM EST, the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) presents Beyond the Sky: The Future of Aviation & Aerospace Science, a virtual panel featuring leading experts in the field. ARTECHOUSE NYC debuts Tingle Bells: An ASMR-Inspired Holiday Special on November 21, offering an immersive holiday experience with Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) effects. Visitors can also enjoy festive cocktails at NYC’s first XR Bar like Champagne Sparkle (a sparkling blend of champagne and apple cider, crowned with a light cloud of cotton candy) and Winter Caramel Sleigh (spiced rum and warm apple cider, swirled with rich caramel and a hint of sea salt, topped with fluffy whipped cream and caramel chunks).
New York Theatre Ballet presents The Nutcracker at Brookfield Place from November 22-24, bringing holiday cheer to the Winter Garden. Set to Tchaikovsky’s classic score, this Art Nouveau-inspired production by choreographer Keith Michael features four performances with free admission. Salt & Straw is giving away free scoops of its new Red One-inspired flavors on November 15 at its UWS location (360 Amsterdam Ave) while supplies last to celebrate the premiere of Dwayne Johnson’s holiday film. Flavors include Commander of the E.L.F. PB Chocolate Crinkle, a spiced chocolate with peanut butter candies, and Krampus’ Mince Pie with Pecan Crust, a brown sugar ice cream with spiced mincemeat.
