Birdbox, from the folks behind San Francisco’s Birdsong, has folks lining up at a kiosk in the Theater District for a taste of their famous fried chicken, in particular Claude the Claw. The sandwich comes with a chicken claw protruding from it and has been sold out on our last 3 attempts. As Birdbox puts it, the claw is a symbol of quality, all organic chicken and free range.
Beyond the Instagram-worthy chicken claw, other offerings include a quarter chicken deep fried (white meat only) with a crunchy coating with a house blend of spices and “Spicy Falcon” seasonings, made with fermented chili. Visitors will also find a Classic Chicken Sando on a potato bun with slaw, pickles, and spice Yeayo sauce, DeClucks Sando with cheese, lettuce, tomato and onions, and Chicken Wings. All can be ordered with a side of waffle fries or in sets.
Birdbox is located at 245 West 46th Street. Be prepared to wait a 20 to 40 minutes for your order to arrive. And if you want to snag Claude the Claw try to get there a half hour before their peak times at 12 noon and 6 pm. Good Luck! For more information, visit https://birdbox.nyc/
