Canto NYC has opened its second location on the Upper West Side in Manhattan at 2014 Broadway. Canto UWS is helmed by visionary restaurateur Djamal Omari, who also owns Canto West Village.
Omari built a name for himself at the first location as the “Mayor of The West Village” based on his love for his customers, the neighborhood, and the industry. He plans to bring the same energy to the UWS.
"Our second location will mirror the vibrant atmosphere and exceptional Italian culinary offerings that our West Village patrons have come to love while embracing the Upper West Side's distinct character and charm,” Said Djamel Omari.
Located near Lincoln Center, the restaurant is offering classic homemade pasta dishes celebrating Italy's vibrant flavors and Italian heritage. Dishes like Parmigiana Di Melanzane, baked eggplant, mozzarella, tomato sauce, and parmesan cheese; Carciofi Fritti Alla Romana, Roman-style fried artichokes; Penne alla Puttanesca with garlic, caper and olives in a spicy San Marzano sauce; Bistecca Alla Fiorentina, Tuscan-style skirt steak served with roasted potatoes and arugula salad; housemade Lasagna, among others.
Italian favorites line the dessert menu like Affogato, Tiramisu, Limoncello Cheesecake, Tartufo and more. Canto has also become known as THE frozen espresso, selling 1,500 plus a week.
The design for Canto UWS mixes industrial and modern elements to create a stylish and welcoming space with natural materials like wood and stone, lime-wash walls, antiqued glass, and sleek metal accents. A mural by artist Karina Smyrnova greets diners, inspired by an Italian garden you might find in a hidden corner of Sicily.
Canto UWS is located at 2014 Broadway, New York, NY. For more information, visit https://www.cantonyc.com
