Casa Mono is a perfect spot for dining al fresco as the weather warms up. Executive Chef Andy Nusser, who grew up in a fishing village along Spain’s Costa Brava, is cooking up classic Spanish tapas with a modern twist.

All of the food is amazing. Start with small plates of Razor Clams a la Plancha, Mussels piled high with chorizo and pimento, Oxtail Stuffed Piquillo Peppers, Pulpo with fennel and grapefruit (top), and crispy Pig Ears with pickled serrano peppers and white grape vinaigrette. Other offerings include Pork Belly with chimichurri peas, morels & creme fraiche, Duck Breast with onion petal, Tokyo turnips & kumquat; and Skirt Steak with romesco and onion mermelada.

A lengthy wine list covers all regions of Spain with prices ranging from about $40 a bottle to $1,000. So, grab a glass of wine and enjoy some true Spanish cuisine at Caso Mono, or its sister restaurant, Bar Jamón (around the corner), offering several types of jamón (cured Spanish ham), and sandwiches called bocadillos, along with churros and chocolate sauce for dessert. Reservations suggested.

Casa Mono is located at 52 Irving Pl, New York, NY (212) 253-2773
