Say bonjour to Chez Omar, Chef Omar Walters newest spot serving classic French dishes with a dash of Jamaican flavors in the heart of the West Village.

Look for things like Conch Croquettes, a French twist on the classic conch fritter with a lobster tomato sauce; and Escargots Du Bourgogne, spiced snails in a white wine sauce served with toasted sourdough points.

Entrees bring creations from the Land, Air and Sea including Escovitch Branzino, pan-seared branzino dressed in a lemon caper white wine sauce; Oxtail Braise cooked for two-to-three hours with pimento, scotch bonnet, scallion and thyme; and Jerk Poulet, grilled whole Cornish Hen marinated with herbs and jerk spices and served with a spicy demi-glace sauce. The dishes are offered with sides of fried plantains, creamy Mac & Cheese, among others.

Dinner would not be complete without something sweet to cap it off. Chez Omar aims to please with its Baguette Bread Pudding with cognac sauce, Passion Fruit Crème Brulée and Hibiscus Cheesecake.

Growing up in Jamaica, Chef Walters fell in love with the flavors of his homeland and traveled throughout the world as a private chef learning more about different cultures and cuisines. After honing his skills, he opened Omar’s Kitchen and Rum Bar in 2019, which has become a fan favorite in the East Village.

Now, with the help of his sister, Chelsea, who helped design the colorful interior, along with colorful cocktails, Chez Omar hopes to inspire the senses with this playful take on French cuisine.

Chez Omar is located at 394 West Street, New York, NY (212)677-1120. For more information, visit https://chezomarny.com/
