For your summer sweet treat coverage consideration, José Andrés’s Mercado Little Spain (10 Hudson Yards, NYC) is debuting all new Xuxo Helado at their ice cream kiosk just in time for the warmer weather.
The brainchild of Mercado Little Spain’s Chef Nicolás López, the Xuxo Helado ($7) uses a traditional Spanish pastry as the cone for a summertime classic: ice cream. A xuxo (pronounced “Choo-Cho”) is akin to a croissant-churro hybrid that’s filled with cream and coated in sugar, traditionally made in the Catalonian city of Girona.
At Mercado Little Spain, the Spanish treat is filled with ice cream in flavors such as Fresas (strawberry), El Solero (mango swirl), or ColaCao (based on Spain’s favorite chocolate drink).
