Downtown Brooklyn's iconic oyster house, Gage & Tollner gets a new lease on life
January 15, 2019, 1:37.46 am ET
Red Hook restaurateurs Sohui Kim (The Good Fork), St John Frizell (Fort Defiance) and Ben Schneider (Insa and The Good Fork) have raised the more than $400,000 dollars from more than 270 investors in a Webfunder campaign to get the project off the ground. Gage & Tollner opened it's doors on Brooklyn's Fulton Street in 1879. It closed in 2004, and at one point became an Arby's. The landmarked structure still retains its signature gas lamps and mahogany walls. Gage & Tollner is set to reopen as a oyster and chop house in the Fall.
