The Other Half Taproom has opened at Rockefeller Center in addition to its beer garden. There are about a dozen beers on tap and more being offered by the can. website

Sands of Persia

From the folks behind Laut and Wau, comes the Sands of Persia, a new dessert bar and shisha (hookah) lounge in Astoria, serving up over-the-top shakes. website

Los Tacos No. 1

The no frills taqueria now has a fifth location of Los Tacos No 1 on Lafayette Street offering a variety of tacos and tostadas, along with quesadillas and mulas. website

The Piano Bar

Fraunces Tavern has opened The Piano Bar Upstairs serving cocktails, including Presidential Punch, along with oysters, charcuterie and cheeses. website

Mister Seoul

A new Korean spot called Mister Seoul has surfaced in Bayside, Queens. Look for things like marinated boneless short ribs and meats served “Gangnam style.” website

Simply Noodles

Simply Noodles has opened on the Upper West Side. Look for things like Mala Spicy Rice Noodles, Miso Ramen, as well as dumplings and vegetarian duck buns. website

Chicago-based Café Tola, which serves tacos and empanadas, now has an outpost on MacDougal Street. It’s also known for its “empanada roulette” where the barista makes the choices for you. website

Uncle Lou

Uncle Lou is serving a wide array of dishes at its new Chinatown location including braised ribs with winter melon, pork knuckles, home-style duck, oxtail stew and more. website

Mezcali

This Cali-Mex spot in the Financial District is serving up both small and large plates, including assorted tacos, California burrito with marinated steak, along with cocktails and bar bites. website

Fishmarket II

Fishmarket restaurant in the Seaport, now has a sibling, Fishmarket II in the East Village, serving things like shrimp puffs, ginger shrimp, fish & chips and fish tacos, among others. website
