Veteran restaurateur Riccardo Dardha (Bread & Tulips) has opened Figlia in Astoria with a menu of neo-Neapolitan pizzas from a custom-built pizza oven.
The pizzas come with toppings such as Mortadella with pickled fresno peppers, pistachio, fior di latte, and grana padano; Maitake Mushrooms with mozzarella, caciocavallo, pickled shallots, and thyme; Nduja & Burrata with crushed tomato, roasted onions, garlic, and basil; and Quattro Formaggi with mozzarella, grana, and fontal (fontina style family). Figlia’s dough undergoes fermentation for more than 48-hours and is baked at 750 degrees. The restaurant is also using local ingredients from Jersey Girl Cheese, Astoria Seafood, Niman Ranch and more.
Other menu highlights include Grilled Octopus over herbed beans, Polpette housemade meatballs, and hearty options like Radiatore Con Salsccia with Niman Ranch Italian sausage, rapini pesto and pangrattato, as well as Rigatoni Bolognese with a veal and pork ragu. For dessert, there is housemade Tiramisu and Chocolate & Hazelnut Mousse Cake.
Cocktails play on classics with Italian twists like the Negroni Sbagliato with Campari, Carpano Antica and prosecco, and the Solerno Sidecar with whiskey, Solerno blood orange, citrus, and bitters. A global wine list of small producers is also offered with all wines under $100 per bottle.
Figlia was designed as a place where neighbors feel comfortable stopping in for a quick pie and a glass of wine or a casual night out with friends.
Figlia is located at 23-02 31st Street, Astoria, NY (347) 730-5117
