Filipino Folk Dance at Little Chef Little Cafe in LIC

Filipino-American chef Diana Manalang of Little Chef Little Café in Long Island City is celebrating Filipino-American Heritage Month (October) with a special Filipino Brunch on Sunday 10/24 from 11am – 4pm. To kick off the festivities, dancers from Queens dance company The Physical Plant will be performing the Tinikling dance, a traditional Filipino folk dance with bamboo sticks, from 11:30am to 12pm outside the cafe.

The menu features traditional Filipino breakfast dishes and pastries, including purple yam Ube Waffles with sweet cheese sauce or as a waffle sandwich with choice of chicken adobo, pork adobo, or longganisa sausage patty, while Adobo Waffles come with chicken or pork. In the Philippines, breakfast is not complete unless rice is involved so she will serve Silog bowl of garlic rice, fried egg dish and kale with a choice of chicken adobo, pork adobo, tapa (thinly sliced beef), tortang talong eggplant omelet, or longganisa, a housemade pork sausage patty. Filipino breads and pastries include traditional breakfast bread rolls pandesal with coconut jam; purple ube cheese pandesal stuffed roll; puto steamed rice cakes with cheese and sweet coconut biko sticky rice cake balls.
