Bao Tea House is opening a new location on Mulberry Street which will go beyond its mostly to-go offerings. The new location features a full bar and tearoom which also doubles as a reading room.
Co-founder Alyas Scofield describes it as a space is for “New Yorkers who want to slow down to have some snacks, grab a drink, and read a book,” and act more like a community center.
17 bao varieties and 17 tea beverages will be offered including the Classic Bao, a crumbly butter bun filled with Cantonese barbeque pork; Fried Chicken Bao, a crispy chicken patty with house-made hot sauce held together with cloudy steamed buns; and Lava Bao, similar to classic bao, it is a charcoal-colored crumbly butter bun filled with sweet egg custard.
Taiwanese high mountain tea, milk tea, and other tea beverages are offered like the popular Starry, Starry Night, a butterfly pea flower tea hinted by drops of lemonade, creating a dreamy gradient violet, served with lychee jelly.
Bao Tea House Mulberry is located at 122 Mulberry St, New York, NY (Soft open slated for December 1st, 2022)
