Full Cast Announced for Kenneth Branagh’s King Lear

Full casting has been announced for the new production of William Shakespeare’s drama “King Lear,” starring Oscar winner Kenneth Branagh in the title role, which will play a 50-performance run at The Shed (545 West 30th Street) from October 26-December 16. It will be co-directed by Rob Ashford, Branagh, and Lucy Skilbeck.
Set in the barbarous landscape of Ancient Britain, this production will feature a cast of rising stars from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, including Mara Allen (Curan), Deborah Alli (Goneril), Raymond Anum (Burgundy), Saffron Coomber (Regan), Kenneth Branagh (King Lear), Doug Colling (Edgar), Stefan Brennan-Healy (France), Eleanor De Rohan (Kent), Chloe Fenwick‐Brown (Oswald), Joseph Kloska (Gloucester), Dylan Corbett-Bader (Edmund), Hughie O’Donnell (Cornwall), Caleb Obediah (Albany), and Jessica Revell (Cordelia/The Fool).
Branagh won the Academy Award for Best Screenplay for “Belfast,” and has been nominated eight times as a director, producer, writer and actor. He previously starred in the title role of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” at the Park Avenue Armory, and his film work include adaptations of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” “Henry V,” and “Hamlet.”
