Grupo Gitano returns New York City with a brand-new restaurant and beach club on Governors Island, called GITANO Island. After four sensational seasons in New York’s SoHo neighborhood, the team behind GITANO has taken on the ambitious venture of transporting its “Garden of Love,” a lush oasis for food and drinks to a massive 27,000 square foot waterfront setting, just 5-minute downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn via ferry.
Lined with giant palm trees and hundreds of tropical plants, Gitano Island features an iconic black Bedouin Dining Tent with 360 marble bar, twin dining pergolas and open fired kitchen as well as a 40-foot water feature and a giant disco ball suspended over the water.
Aside from lush greenery, visitors will find the flavors of Mexico ranging from guacamole and crab tostadas to chorizo con queso and smoked shrimp tacos. Other offerings include refreshing watermelon salad, ceviche in young coconut, branzino in banana leaf, and carne asada. Tropical cocktails come with names like Jungle Fever, Sun Kissed, and Summer Love. Groups can enjoy the Jungle Fever Punchbowl.
