There are cheeseburgers and there is the Hoexters Double-Smash Cheeseburger guaranteed to deliver a melt-in-your-mouth experience. And it is all about the cheese.
The restaurant uses a product called "New School'' American Cheese made with aged Cheddar, cream, butter, and salt. The proprietary blend, crafted by Chef Eric Greenspan and entrepreneur Alan Leavitt, has a flavor and creamy texture like no other. The char-grilled smash burger sits on a steamed sesame seed bun with lots of gooey cheese oozing out from between the two patties and topped with pickles and special sauce. It arrives with a healthy side of French fries.
Hoexters, located on the Upper East Side, is owned by Alexandra Shapiro who also operates Flex Mussels. Started by her family and operated in 70s and 80s, the Hoexters name was recently revived. Guests will also find Hoexter’s Famous Gorgonzola Garlic Bread and brasserie classics like Steak Frites, Roasted Half Chicken, and St. Louis BBQ Ribs, to name a few.
Hoexters is located at 174 E 82nd St, New York, NY (212) 288-1777. For more information, visit hoexters.com
