Illinoise to Move to Broadway on April 24
March 19, 2024, 7:13.00 pm ET
“Illinoise,” the gorgeously danced and incredibly moving theatrical adaptation of Grammy- and Oscar-nominated Sufjan Stevens’ concept album of the same name, will play Broadway St. James Theatre from April 24 until August 10. It is currently being performed in the Park Avenue Armory’s massive Wade Thompson Drill Hall. Performances continue until March 26.
Stevens’ beloved cult classic -- brought to life with live music and vocals, impressionistic choreography, and narratives centering on self-exploration and community – has been crafted by Tony Award-winning director-choreographer Justin Peck and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury.
The show’s Broadway cast includes Yesenia Ayala, Kara Chan, Ben Cook, Gaby Diaz, Jeanette Delgado, Carlos Falu, Christine Flores, Jada German, Zachary Gonder, Rachel Lockhart, Brandt Martinez, Dario Natarelli, Tyrone Reese, Craig Salstein, Ahmad Simmons, Byron Tittle, Ricky Ubeda, and Alejandro Vargas. The vocalists and band for the Broadway engagement will be announced shortly.
