This fall, seasoned New York City restaurateur Lisle Richards debuts Isle of Us, a marketplace and café founded on the principles of health, conscious living, and sustainability on the Upper East Side. Isle of Us offers wholesome and nourishing made-to-order and prepared foods, along with a rotating selection of housemade pantry provisions, as well as home goods curated from brands with parallel values.
Helmed by chef Matt Aita (previously: Little Beet Table, Jean-Georges), the all-day menu features an array of offerings split into breakfast, coffee and teas, sandwiches, salads, bowls and deli items. Look for things like The Big Green Salad with greens of the day, radishes, cucumbers, fresh herbs, sunflower seeds and tahini verde dressing; Fall Harvest Bowl with wild rice, farro, roasted acorn squash, roasted broccoli, oyster mushrooms, kale, currants, pickled onions, feta cheese and pumpkin & seed granola; and Kimchi Grilled Cheese with fontina, cheddar, sesame and multigrain bread.
Designed by Nicholas Obeid, the Isle of Us space embraces guests with bold, saturated colors and sharp geometric motifs. Marigold leather upholstered banquettes are juxtaposed with bronze countertops with custom finishes throughout, including sconces by Tino Saubert and green café tables with stools by Matière Grise. The playful yet elegant design creates a space that creates conviviality while encouraging gathering and conversation around food.
Rooted in sustainability and transparency, Isle of Us has adopted a variety of practices to reduce environmental impact including, but not limited to, sourcing hyper-local ingredients when possible, adhering to an active recycling and commercial composting program, maximizing all ingredients in food production to minimize waste and reducing the use of plastic in front and back of house operations.
Isle of Us is located at 1481 Third Avenue, New York, NY
