From the team behind Kimika and Wayla comes Jia, a playful Chinese dim sum restaurant in Port Washington, NY where some dishes arrive on their own mini ferris wheel. Executive Chef Kand Hu (formerly of Red Farm) is leading the kitchen.
Dim Sum includes classics like Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, Tri-Color Vegetable Dumplings, and Pork & Shrimp Shumai, and, Spicy XLB Shanghai Soup Dumplings along with potstickers and pan-fried buns.
Mains include a Peking Duck Platter served with sliced cucumber, scallion, housemade wheat pancakes, hoisin and seasonal sauces; Tea-smoked Crispy Chicken brined for 24 hours, and served with a ginger scallion sauce; and XO Seafood Nest with jumbo shrimp, scallop, squid, and house-made XO sauce.
Other offerings include Lobster Noodles with 1.5 lbs of fresh Maine lobster, black pepper sauce, ginger, scallions, and udon noodles and Seafood Fried Rice with lump crab meat, jumbo shrimp, bay scallops, and squid. Desserts like Custard Bao Buns and Sesame Balls filled with peanut paste round out the menu.
Inventive spirit-free cocktails [liquor license pending] come with names like PaNOma (Seedlip spice 94, yuzu bitters, grapefruit, lime, and Fever-Tree club soda); and Twin Dragon Sour (Seedlip Grove, almond cookie, citrus, egg white, shiso bitters, and raspberry powder).
Jia’s modern, minimalist space featuring bleached wood and contrasting dark accents is meant to complement its seaside surroundings.
Jia is located at 84 Old Shore Road, Port Washington, NY
