Husband-wife team Andrew Yuan and Seven Gu have opened Knock Knock, a new restaurant specializing in comforts foods and small plates serves Izakaya- style. Built as a welcoming space for the community to gather and celebrate, the menu is inspired by special memories and serves as a love letter to moments from the couple’s relationship.

Diners will find dishes such as Truffle Honey Salmon, Korean BBQ Wings, Crispy Fried Chicken Bao Buns inspired by street foods. There are Money Pouch Dumplings filled with shrimp, bacon, crab (Yuan’s childhood favorites), Wagyu Beef Dumplings with a sweet & spicy honey soy togarashi sauce; and Chicken Truffle Dumplings topped with shaved truffles served tableside.

Main dishes bring Shrimp Wonton Noodles with house-pulled flat egg noodles in a rich fish broth; Wasabi Chicken Fried Rice and Beef Pho with a 48-hour marinated beef broth with aromatics, noodles and topped with crispy shallots. For Dessert there is housemade Yuzu Crème Brûlée and Passion Fruit Bread Pudding.

The cocktail program is curated by Beverage Manager Sunny Ng, formerly of Fushimi and Sushi Hana. Cocktails include the Knock Knock Lycheetini with gin, lychee, St. Germain, simple syrup and grapefruit bitters. A specialty daytime drink is the One Day, Three Autumns with espresso, housemade black tea syrup, milk, choice of milk and a dark chocolate powder sprinkled on top, available iced or hot.

The space by KYZ Studios and designer Karen Zhang draws its inspiration from Chinese dim sum dining culture and classic Japanese tea houses. The bi-level space features a tall entryway that houses a green marble countertop coffee bar, and opens to the main dining room with floor to ceiling windows, and marble cocktail bar. A covered backyard provides additional seating.

Knock Knock is located at 42-44 Crescent Street in Long Island City. The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday- Sunday from 6pm-11pm and weekend brunch from 11am-3pm. Knock Knock x Coffee Project New York is open daily from 8AM-5PM. For more information, visit knockknockny.com
