Lundy Bros. has emerged on the Red Hook waterfront, a distance away from the original sprawling location in Sheepshead Bay. In its heyday the original Lundy’s reportedly drew up to 15,000 patrons a day and was one of the highest grossing restaurants in America.
Now after being closed for nearly 20 years, Lundy Bros. has been reimagined on another part of the New York City waterfront by new owners hoping to recreate Lundy’s lure and seafood classics. As you enter the space there is a large, well-stocked bar to the right with table seating to the left and rear.
The menu begins with Lundy’s famous biscuits served with whipped butter, Lundy’s Clam Bisque with smoked bacon, Oysters Rockefellers, Baked Clams, Deviled Eggs with crab, P.E.I. Mussels with red or white sauce. and Rhode Island style calamari tossed with garlic, butter and cherry peppers.
Mains bring a “Fresh Catch of the Day,” 1 1/12 pound Broiled or Grilled Lobster, Brenman’s 42 oz Dry-aged Prime Porterhouse for 2 ($147), A Viking Burger, Spiced Roasted Cauliflower, and Famous Chicken Dinner with lemon & herb roasted chicken with rosemary chicken jus. Sides include Lundy’s Potatoes with caramelized onions, Creamed Spinach, Mac & Cheese, fries and more.
Visitors can also opt for The Shore Dinner for $75 offering a choice of Baked Clams, Blue Point Oysters or Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, choice of soup or salad, several mains and a mini butterscotch sundae to finish.
Signature cocktails come with names like “The Betty W” and “Lost at Sea.” Craft beers including Brooklyn Brewery’s Pilsner and Threes Brewing “Gowanus Gold” are also being offered.
