Mino Brasserie will whisk you away to Paris with its bright and airy space, massive antique mirrors along with natural wood and zinc elements. The name Mino is derived from Minot, which is slang for kid in French, and meant to evoke peaceful childhood memories. You will find it on a sunny corner in the West Village.
Executive Chef Gérald Barthélémy honed his skills under Chef Éric Briffard at Hotel Vernet in Paris before making St Tropez Wine Bar a destination in New York City. Barthelemy’s menu is filled with French classics like Oeufs Mimosa, hard-boiled eggs with mayonnaise and truffle shavings; Accras de Morue, codfish fritters with aioli; and Pate en Croute, a hand-crafted duck and chicken pate with condiments. Oysters with mignonette sauce, seafood plateau and a classic caesar are also available.
Larger plates bring Boeuf Bourguignon, a braised Black Angus beef stew with button mushrooms, steamed potatoes and pearl onions. Wild Scallops are offered with truffle puree in red wine reduction, while Prince Edward Island mussels are paired with house-made fries. French sandwiches like the Croque Monsieur, with aged ham and cheddar, make an appearance alongside filet mignon served on a French baguette with foie gras sauce and fried onions. Mino Brasserie also boasts a solid wine list with a decidedly French bent including reds, whites and bubbles by the glass or bottle.
Counted among the desserts – crème brulee, chocolate mousse and profiteroles with chocolate sauce guaranteed to bring out the child in all of us!
Mino Brasserie is located at 225 W 12th St, New York, NY (845) 272-2342
