Morgan’s Brooklyn Barbecue is slated to re-open this month after closing for more than 17 months due to a 3-alarm fire. Morgan’s will continue its legacy of slow-smoked meats via an on-site smoker burning white oak, extensive bourbon and craft beer programs, and a lively smokehouse atmosphere.
Morgan’s new menu will introduce the popular Philadelphia smoked Brisket “Cheesesteak” (with queso whiz!) as well as a Candied Burnt Ends and Smoked Caramel Sundae. Other highlights include a Smoked Cowboy Steak (24 oz, bone-in), Beef Back Ribs, and best sellers like beef brisket (USDA prime fatty or lean), pulled pork and Smoked Brisket Tacos.
The menu also boasts house cured bacon ribs, a fried chicken platter, sausage hoagie, and 3-hour smoked chicken and traditional sides like housemade cornbread, coleslaw, wedge salad, collard greens and several different types of macaroni & cheese.
House-smoked bourbon and rye cocktails will be at the heart of the retooled beverage program, including a Barrel-Aged Vieux Carré, Vermouth-finished Boulevardier, Butcher’s Cut Old Fashioned and the circa 1862 Improved Whiskey Cocktail. Morgan’s extensive bourbon list will be displayed on its original chalkboard, and a craft beer program will offer local and regional selections.
Architects Chris Smith (formerly of Rockwell Group) and Dan Kocieniewski of CMS Architecture & Design undertook a painstaking restoration of the Morgan’s space which now includes a 45-seat interior with central bar, open kitchen, wooden furnishings, metal accents, and chalkboard menus.
