Northern Indian Restaurant Jaz Opens In Hell’s Kitchen

Jaz, a new northern Indian restaurant, has arrived in Hell's Kitchen. The menu includes such delicacies as Shrimp Balchao, pan fried shrimp in a spicy onion-chili sauce; the Tandoori Platter, which includes Chicken Tikka Masala, Ginger Chicken and Sheikh Kebab; Bhindi Masala, a stir-fried okra dish with tomatoes, cilantro, and spices; and Mango Shrimp, jumbo shrimp marinated in a tangy mango sauce and grilled in a tandoor oven.

Accompanying the main courses are several breads including Peshawari Naan, a sweet naan made with almonds, raisins, and coconut stuffing, and Aloo Paratha, whole wheat bread stuffed with spiced potatoes. Rounding out the menu are desserts such as Gulab Jamun, an Indian dessert made with dry milk and cooked in honey syrup, and Kheer, a traditional north Indian rice pudding made with Basmati rice, sugar and full fat milk.

Jaz also features a robust wine program; a full bar program that features Indian-inspired craft cocktails such as the Spicy Chili Margarita and the Jal Jeera Mojito; as well as a variety of bottled beer including Kingfisher and Taj Mahal

There will also be live music at the opening from Charu Suri, the first Indian-born female composer to perform at Carnegie Hall.
