Chef Austin Johnson (formerly of Eleven Madison Park and Frenchie) just launched One White Street, A Dinner Party. This reimagined take on its upscale tasting menu brings visitors back in time to the 70s when the dining hub served as a stomping grounds for John Lennon & Yoko Ono.
Dinner begins with a 15-minute reception upon arrival, where Chef Johnson guides guests through the courses with stories of the building's rich cultural history. The experience is followed by a seven-course, farm-to-table tasting menu utilizing seasonal ingredients from the restaurant's upstate, Rigor Hill Farm.
It begins with a glass of Tomato-Basil or Fennel-Sage flavored Farm Water, alongside passed bites. The first few courses are served family style including Red Radishes and Market Turnips with Garlic Hummus; Crispy Apple Waldorf Salad; Onion Tartlets; and Smoked Parsnip Tempura. Classics continue with Chilled Foie Gras with orchard apples; Long Island Fluke with Jersey Citrus; Honey Roasted Duck & Confit Duck Leg. Sides bring Simmered Carrots, Farm Corn Polenta and Black Truffle Rutabaga. Dessert rounds out the menu with delicacies such as Olive Oil Pavlova, Fig Cotton Candy, and Fennel Seed & Blackberry Biscotti.
The beverage program, crafted by Sommelier and Beverage Director Suzanne DeStio (previously of Eleven Madison Park) also draws inspiration from the farm with The Farm Spritz (vodka, Rigor Hill Farm mint, prosecco, lemon); Summer in Oaxaca (tequila Ocho Añejo La Ladera, Real Minero Largo & Becuela, orange and mole bitters); and Alpine Regiment (gin, Braulio, lemon, pistachio, green chartreuse, egg white).
As part of the experience, the second-floor space designed by Drake/Anderson, has been reimaged as a dining room anchored by a large central table in teal toned iced platinum barn wood with plush cut velvet throw pillows adorning the luxe banquettes. A Dinner Party at One White Street is open Tuesday through Saturday, with two seatings at 6PM and 8:30PM for $228 per guest. Reservations via Resy
