The Second City New York (64 N. 9th Street), which is known for its commitment to sketch comedy and improv revues, has announced its fall season of programming.
Its mainstage show, “Ruthless Asks of Kindness,” is a 100-minute immersive, fast-paced comedy revue that dives into absurd modern scenarios with elements like barbershop quartets, subway encounters, and surreal moments such as singing grandfather clocks.
The venue’s featured show, “The Second City Presents” is a fully improvised show where no two performances are the same, featuring special guest appearances alongside improv all-stars. It is followed by the lively “Monday Mayhem Karaoke Party” to extend the evening’s fun.
Second City New York has also expanded into stand-up comedy, hosting performances in its intimate Black Box theater that spotlight both emerging comedians and seasoned veterans.
Finally, Second City New York will be hosting “The 88 Show with Avery Pearson,” a late-night variety show featuring original comedy music on November 14th, as part of the New York Comedy Festival.
The venue offers food and drink throughout its shows or at the onsite restaurant, The Bentwood New York, which is open Wednesdays through Saturdays.
