Sereneco, a new all-day café and restaurant, is calling Greenpoint home. Seasonal New American fare is being offered in a relaxed setting. Owner Billy Van Dolsen and Partner Jim Nawn are the forces behind the new space. Executive Chef Dennis Hong (Lincoln Ristorante, Le Bernardin) is leading the kitchen.
Inspired by the seasons, the menu champions fresh produce, sourced from local purveyors including Paisano’s Butcher Shop, Happy Valley Meats, Greenpoint Fish & Lobster, Brooklyn Grange, and R.L. Irwin Mushroom Co.
Look for dishes like Grilled Prawns (salsa verde, chorizo oil, lemon, focaccia), Arctic Char (English peas, fava, asparagus, fennel, radish, orange, niçoise olives), Polenta Fresca (fresh local corn, smoked mozzarella, thyme), Pork Chop (focaccia panzanella, pickled onion, heirloom tomato), and Ratatouille (squash, tomato, eggplant, basil, marinara).
Brunch brings hearty offerings such as Baked Eggs (marinara, parmigiano-reggiano, chili, basil, focaccia), Pancakes (2 large pancakes, choice of blueberry preserve, caramelized banana, chocolate hazelnut spread), and vegan options including a Mushroom-Lentil Burger.
Located on the ground floor of Greenpoint’s historic Pencil Factory building, Sereneco pays homage to the building’s original structure with exposed brick, beams, concrete floors, and other historic touches. The 70-seat restaurant boasts towering 20-foot ceilings with elevated greenery lining the perimeter.
Sereneco is located at 113 Franklin St, Brooklyn, NY (929) 295-8714
