Sip & Guzzle Opens on Cornelia Street

Sip & Guzzle, a new bi-level bar at 29 Cornelia Street,is opening this week. The bar. which is the first expansion of Shingo Gokan’s world-acclaimed Tokyo bar, The SG Club, is the brainchild of two globally acclaimed mixologists: Steve Schneider (Employees Only Singapore) for Guzzle and Shingo Gokan (The SG Club, Tokyo) for Sip.

Schneider and Gokan are joined by Chef Mike Bagale, formerly of the three-Michelin-starred restaurant Alinea, who is serving reimagined traditional izakaya fare and Japanese street food. Chef Bagale is the first person in the world to create “floating” food, with Alinea’s renowned edible green apple balloon.

Among the libations being offered are Gimlet Over Rice, made with The SG Shochu Kome, Pineapple, Cucumber, Lemongrass, and Absinthe; the Natural Unnatural Wine, made with Bombay Sapphire Gin, Green Apple, Grapefruit, and Yerba Mate; the Má Garita, made with Patrón Silver, Mezcal, Sichuan Peppercorn, Cilantro, and Lime; the Mr. Miyagi, made with Dewar’s 12-Year-Old Scotch Whisky, The SG Shochu Mugi, and Campari; and Drunken Grandma’s Apple Pie, made with Calvados, Baked Apple, Brown Butter, Egg White.
