Restaurateur Mark Barak is taking the wraps off Lupetto, a stylish wood-fired Italian steakhouse in the heart of NoMad, just steps away from Madison Square Park. Lupetto’s timeless interior from James Beard Award-winner Parts and Labor Design, showcases warm wood tones, sleek marble, artisanal tiles and brass accents throughout the landmarked space.
Lupetto, meaning “little wolf” in Italian, is inspired by the rustic hearth cooking often found in regions of Italy like Perugia and Naples. Chef and partner Michael Berardino leads the culinary program with a selection of wood-fired meats, house-made pastas, and Neapolitan-style pizza.
This includes premium cuts like a 40 oz Bone-in Ribeye, a Pork Porterhouse prepared ‘Porchetta’ style, and a Lamb Saddle Chop. Visitors will also find Wood-Roasted Oysters with strega hollandaise; Pizza Alla Norma with eggplant and ricotta salata; Crespelle with white bolognese; and Spaghetti al Limone with Meyer lemon and bronte pistachio.
Craft cocktails also reach toward Italy with drinks like the Lupetto Negroni made with gin, campari, sfumato, and Carpano Antica. The wine list features a robust selection of old and new world wines from top producers to complement the rustic menu.
Sotto is an alluring craft amari bar with a vaulted ceiling and private dining space located downstairs from Lupetto. The space, by Parts and Labor Design, features mother-of-pearl tiling, walnut burl wall coverings, terrazzo floors, a hand-dyed fringe chandelier making Sotto a destination for pre- or post-dinner drinks.
Lupetti is located at 1123 Broadway at W 25th Street, New York, NY. For more information, visit Lupettonyc.com (Official opening Sept 25th)
