New York City restaurateurs and husband-and-wife duo, Sarah Schneider and Demetri Makoulis, the team behind Egg Shop, have opened a new restaurant, Gus and Marty’s, at 232 North 12th St in North Williamsburg. Named after their fathers, this Greek-American eatery combines Demetri’s Greek heritage with a modern Brooklyn vibe, offering traditional Greek dishes with a New York twist.

The menu, crafted by Chef Peter Lipson (formerly of Empellon and La Ventura), features wood-fired small plates and shareable dishes like Moussaka with crispy eggplant and beef ragu, Lamb Riblets with date and mastic ranch, and Crispy Shrimp with lemon, oregano, and spiced tzatziki. Diners can also enjoy Petit Gyros with pork or Hen of the Woods mushrooms, and a standout dessert—Baklava Sundae topped with vanilla ice cream and Luxardo cherries.

Gus and Marty’s cocktail program includes Mediterranean-inspired classics like Negronis and Daiquiris, along with Greek liqueurs such as Ouzo and Tsipouro. The wine list focuses on Greek and Mediterranean natural wines.

The restaurant’s design, by Sarah Carpenter Studio, blends Greek culture with a Brooklyn aesthetic, featuring handmade busts of Sarah and Demetri’s fathers, vintage family photos, and classic Greek tile patterns. Gus and Marty’s is designed to be a lively neighborhood spot where friends and family can gather.

Gus and Marty’s will be open for dinner Monday and Wednesday through Sunday. For more information or reservations, visit gusandmartys.com.
