There’s a new place in town where whiskey wears the crown. The Parlour Room, which describes itself as a whiskey emporium, is now open in Midtown showcasing 400 craft whiskeys and a dozen different tastings.

The Beverage Director is David Orellana who has worked at Quality Inn, Scarpetto and Maialino. Orellana’s cocktail creations include drinks like Catcher in the Rye (Kentucky Rye Whiskey Drambuie, Lavender, Citrus, Egg White, and Laphroaig 10yr Islay Scotch Mist), and The Gatsby Royale (Effen Yuzu Vodka, Lemon, House-Made Pear & Apple Cider Cordial, And Piper-Heidsieck Brut Champagne).

Guests can also opt for a Whiskey Passport ($275) which paves the way to curated list of 28 whiskey expressions. The selection includes unique varieties of American Bourbon, American Rye, and American Whiskey, as well as Canadian, Irish, Scotch and Japanese varieties, including hard-to-find bottles.

Chef de Cuisine Daniel Sokolov (Jean-Georges, Carbone) and Executive Chef Justin Ottervange oversee the kitchen. From the raw bar comes Buffalo Tartare with hand-cut beef, celery, pickles, blue cheese and crispy chicken skin; Local Peeko Oysters with honeydew and cucumber mignonette; and Hamachi Crudo with yondu, citrus gel, crispy ginger and blinQ blossoms which add a briny flavor.

Small plates for sharing include Lamb Samosas, Dirty Rice Arancini, Lobster & Shrimp Wontons, and A-5 Wagyu with bourbon and black garlic ssamjang. Larger plates bring a Tomahawk Ribeye for Two with Duck Fat Fingerlings and Charred Broccolini and Wild Mushrooms, and Filet Mignon with Caramelized Onion Soubise, Onion Ring and Pickled Mushrooms. For dessert, there’s Bourbon Pecan Tart, among others.

The space is rather sultry with velvet booths, tassel bar lamps, wood-burning fireplace and a 1920s Italian Baroque chandelier. Other furnishings custom-made in Ireland and designed to embrace the whiskey experience.

The Parlour Room is located at 70 W 36th St, New York, NY (917) 261-5495
